Hi I'm Ben and I'm the founder of Rent-A-Nerd. Technology has a habit of making life harder just when it’s supposed to just work. A new television won’t connect to the internet, the Wi-Fi suddenly stops working, or your security camera decides it has had enough and doesn't want to see in the dark any more.

 

I’ve spent over 20 years working in customer services roles, helping people solve problems and explaining complex systems in a way that actually makes sense. At the same time, technology has always been part of my life. My dad was a telecoms engineer, so growing up there were always computers, cables, and bits of electronics spread across the house. Taking things apart to see how they worked and then figuring out how to put them back together again was just part of everyday life. Over the years that curiosity turned into practical experience building my own gaming computers, helping friends, family, and neighbours whenever their technology stopped cooperating.

 

Rent-A-Nerd was created to bring those two things together: practical technical knowledge and clear, patient support. Whether it’s setting up a new TV, fixing Wi-Fi problems, helping with computers, or getting smart devices working properly. When switching it off and back on again doesn't do the job the aim is simple... to get your tech working again without the jargon or frustration.
